What is the Urantia Book?

The Urantia Book was published in 1955. The book was written between 1934 and 1935.

It is purportedly a divine revelation given to us to provide mankind with a better understanding of God, our universe, our history, our origins and our destiny as sons and daughters of this same loving Spiritual Father and Creator of the universe.

Who wrote it?

No human being or group has claimed authorship, though at the end of each paper, the name of the celestial author is credited.

The Urantia Foundation, which holds the copyright, states that "no human author" is responsible for its content. The Urantia Book also states the presentation of revealed truth was not inspired, but factual.

The authors of The Urantia Book say the book should stand on its own merit, and the individual is free to judge the authenticity of the papers based on thier own sense of truth perception. 

Many readers of the book enjoy reading the papers because of the brilliant and original insights it has to offer regarding religion, history, cosmology, science and the exhaustive narrative of Jesus' life.

What does the Book say About God?

God is a real person, even the source of all personalities, and the single most important achievement in living is to try to gain a better understanding of God as a Father and to develop a loving relationship with Him.

How does The Urantia Book differ from other religious or spiritual beliefs?

The Urantia Book is not a religion. There is no church, there are no leaders or spokespeople. The way many feel about the book can be described as religious, but unlike churches and sects, there is no creed or uniform ideology - except that we are all children of a loving Father.

Why was the book written?

The authors say man suffers from much spiritual and historical confusion. The Urantia Book is revealed truth intended  to enlarge man's understanding of and appreciation for God -  and to set the record straight on matters to do with man's origin, destiny and purpose.
